A common home challenge that almost every family faces particularly as they grow and change over the years is home storage. We often buy and receive far more then we get rid of over the years and it adds up. So much so that eventually many homes are drowning in stuff and they are not sure where to go with it all. The good news is that there are many solutions and this is an easy problem to fix.
It is not hard to find a cheap home storage solution for this problem but the first step is to actually declutter. This may go against your own internal instincts, but the most important thing to understand is that all you need to keep is that which you use, you need or you love. Everything else can go. Where should it go you ask? Well donate it, gift it, give it, trash it, recycle it or just put a free sign on it out at the end of your drive way. Either way just get rid of it. Get support and help in this area if this is hard for you. Without a friend you can get bogged down in decided what goes. A good friend can go a long ways in this area.
Next you need you define the items that you do use but you only use them seasonally, occasionally or at certain times of the year or specific events. These are the objects that need to go into plastic storage boxes with lids. These storage boxes are a storage unit unto themselves as they are stackable and need only a small space to hold 5 of them quite easily. You will want to label them very well on the outside so that you can remember their internal contents without opening them up as you go.
If there is no space in your home outside of your main living spaces like the kitchen, dining area and bedrooms that can house a few storage boxes for all the stuff you only use occasionally you may want to get a plastic storage cabinet with doors. You can then have a designated space for your bins.
The good news is that this whole set up will not cost you more then $100 or so if you price shop and do it right. In the end you can have a very cleaned out home for a very low price.
