Marijuana is the most well known drug in America, and despite being illegal on the Federal law books for all 50 states, it’s easily the most available and used drug in the country.
With that comes special privilege that only something as controversial as marijuana can beckon: a unique set of myths that won’t go away about the drug. There are dozens of them, but here are 4 we particularly find interesting and commonly repeated.

Marijuana isn’t harmful. While it’s obvious there are medicinal benefits to marijuana, that doesn’t mean it’s entirely harmless. In an effort to pass legislation, many supporters have turned a blind eyes to the reality of the negative effects that marijuana can have on people – patients and recreational users alike. Now does pot really kill brain cells? That’s a whole other debate.
Marijuana is legal in Amsterdam. Actually, no it’s not actually legal. It’s just that the laws there are structured so that coffee shops can sell marijuana and people who might obviously have it in their possession cannot be legally searched on the street by the cops. But marijuana itself is not legal in the way that say, cigarettes or beer are legal in Holland.
The US Constitution was written on paper made out of marijuana. Hold on there cowbow. It was written on paper made out of hemp. That’s a little different. That’s like saying you a bowl of barley soup will get you drunk, since, you know, barley is one of the ingredients to making beer.
