Being a vegan has changed me in a lot of ways, and all of it is in a positive manner. The reason why this is so is by providing me with the knowledge and understanding that everyone needs to know regarding the way we eat and what we eat. It has been mostly a question of educating myself about the best kind of lifestyle there is, which is going vegan and fully embracing the philosophy offered by vegetarianism. Once you do that, you are making an impact on yourself and your family, but to many others and even in the environment. This is so true even though we might not be fully aware of it.
When I first became a vegan, I was actually preparing myself for a whole lifetime of eating bland and uninteresting food. So imagine how pleasantly surprised I was when I encountered the many delicious food that vegetarianism has to offer and all vegans enjoy. It immediately occurred to me that I should start learning those great recipes at once. What were very interesting to me were the recipes which seemed like the actual ones which used meat, only difference being that meat substitutes were used for the vegan variety. That is why I am now trying to get the best vegan cookbooks I can find, so that I will learn the best recipes.
I must really stress how satisfying it is for me to be able to enjoy all the great food that vegans eat. The presence of new tastes and textures has rekindled my great love for food. I still try to eat moderately, but once a week I allow myself a little luxury by eating everything that I want, granted that it is vegan fare, of course. And after all the eating, I could use my vegan toothpaste. Now that’s an added treat to it all.
