  • Purchase A Car With Bad Credit

Posted on August 25th, 2010 GuestPoster No comments

It used to be pretty easy to qualify for a car loan before the economy went in the tank and credit locked up.  For a few years, all you had to do was sign your name on the dotted line and you could drive off the lot with a new car.  The dealers didn’t even care if you had a down payment because they planned to make so much money on the interest charged.  This all changed as soon as the economy soured and people started missing car payments.  Before long cars were getting repossessed right and left and loan companies started losing all kinds of money.

The banks and finance companies are very careful about who they will give a loan to nowadays.  If you have a good credit score then you can still get a loan fairly easily but if your credit is less than great you will have to jump through more hoops.

If you are wondering how to purchase car with bad credit then one option is something that used to be used all the time.  Before credit was easy to get people actually had to prove themselves before they could get any money.  The problem was the banks were not interested in taking chances on people with no credit history.  Therefore they came up with the idea of the co-signer.

When person A agrees to co-sign a loan for person B this means A is guaranteeing that the loan payments will be made.  If person B reneges on the loan then A will be held responsible.  In order for this to work, person A must have a good credit rating that person B can piggy back on.

If you decide to go this route then you will need someone with good credit to co-sign your car loan.  In days past, this was usually a parent or other relative with some money.

It may often seem like car insurance is randomly priced, but it really isn’t.  For example, have you noticed that women get cheap car insurance?  This isn’t because the women are flirting with their insurance agents.  No, it’s because women are statistically less likley to get into a car accident then men are.  The reasons for this could fill a book, and are not a part of this article, but suffice it to say that the difference is big enough to lead to a cost savings.

Of course, you can’t controly your sex, but you can control other things.  For example, drivers with good records are often able to get discounts on car insurance.  Drive safe, and watch out for these discounts when they are available.  They could save you a lot.

If you are the type of person who constantly worries about the speed they are traveling at when driving then you will know what a negative effect it has on your concentration levels. Its not that most of us want to intentionally break the speed limit but sometimes you unknowningly let our speed creep up without realizing it and if it happens to occur in the proximity of a speed trap then we will find ourselves in trouble.

Getting a speed ticket will result in a fine and penalty points on your license, not to mention the inconvenience it all causes. An next year when you come to renew your insurance policy you will find that your premium has gone up.

If you are a law abiding citizen who values their driving license then its time you purchase a speed camera detector for your vehicle. The speed camera detector will give you advance warning of an up coming speed trap allowing you to safely reduce your speed in time an avoid being prosecuted by the traffic police.

I need to sell my car really fast, that’s what you say to a friend as you realize that the economic situation is squeezing you out.  You ask, how can I find someone to buy my car quickly without losing valuable time?

Your friend responds that you need to clean that piece of junk up, make it presentable and do some light car maintenance so it rides a little smoother.  He also suggests you get the word out to your friends so they can let others know you are selling.  Also, since you are flat broke he tells you to put an ad on Craigslist and a for sell sign in your car.  Last, he tells you that your vision of its value isn’t real and that you need to set the expectation realistically so it will move quickly.

You thank your friend for the advice, tell him those are great ideas and to grab the garden hose and a rag and help you wash it.  He starts to think he’s a better friend than you are.

If you need a car in the very near future there are many avenues for you to pursue.  You can go to a dealership and buy one off of the lot and put up with the headaches of financing, or you can use other methods to find cheap cars.  Finding a car that is cheap will allow you pay cash for it to speed the process up.  Cheap cars can be bought at auction, from a friend or neighbor, or a place in your town that usually has lots of cars for sale.  Paying cash for your next car alleviates the need to go farther into debt.  A quality car can be purchased for only a few thousand dollars if you do your homework ahead of time.
