Strong Pop Up Gazebos
Posted on March 6th, 2010 No commentsPop up gazebos are suitable for use at a large range of outdoor events. There are many different designs on the market which are constructed in various ways and from different materials, depending on what kind of customer base they are aimed at. Whether you are a private homeowner who is hosting a garden party or barbecue for family members or friends, or an employee of a large corporation tasked with arranging an event which will be attended by many guests, there will be many pop up gazebo models that will cater to your needs.
The majority of instant gazebos currently on sale are targeted towards private citizens who will be using them in their own gardens. As a result, these structures are usually small, lightweight plastic designs that can be erected quickly and easily, often by just one person working alone, in a matter of minutes. Although popular, these gazebos will be unsuitable for people hosting larger events that will be attended by numerous guests. For these kinds of occasions a heavy duty pop up gazebo will be much more beneficial. These structures are supported by a strong steel frame that is sturdy and capable of dealing with adverse weather conditions, as well as the wear and tear it will receive from large numbers of guests.
Most heavy duty pop up gazebos can be purchased relatively cheaply from many different suppliers. Home wear centres and department stores will sometimes offer good selections although the internet has several online stores that will specialise in the supply of large strong pop up gazebo products. Shopping around online is therefore going to be wise if you want to gain access to the widest product ranges. The internet will also offer the lowest prices a lot of the time as well. If you feel that buying you own gazebo will not be cost effective then you also have the option of hiring one.

Steel Carport Kits and Options
Posted on March 3rd, 2010 No commentsIf you need a structure to provide some shelter for your vehicles or your boat, you could look at the different styles of steel carport kits available. The kit comes with all the necessary materials you need to construct your own carport. You will need to decide what you want to use as the anchor posts for your structure. You will also want to take accurate measurements beforehand so you choose the right size for what you need. You can also get an additional storage unit to add to your structure to give you more room to store outdoor items.
If you really want a professional looking structure you can also include a carport light to add illumination to the area in the evening. There are also styles of carports available which include walls on all sides and a door, making them fully enclosed. This is a good option if you have enough space to accommodate the whole unit. It is also good if you have more than one car you need to protect. You can build a double size unit to house two cars or one car and one camper.
There may be some differences in the styles of the steel carports kits so you want to pay attention to what you are purchasing. You can also ask any qualified installer of these types of structures what they would recommend for your house. Steel is a very durable material and the structure should last you for a long time. It is also virtually a maintenance free material so you won’t need to spend a lot of time caring for your shelter. If you are doubtful as to whether you can construct the unit yourself, you can always consult with a professional installer and see what cost it would be to have them build the unit for you.

Create a Jungle Themed Nursery
Posted on February 28th, 2010 No commentsDecorating a nursery is always fun and selecting the bedding is probably the part that is the most exciting. While there are lots of different bedding set to choose from, animal themes seem to be quite popular. From a Noah’s ark baby nursery theme filled with all types of animals to a theme based on one animal such as lambs, there is no shortage of animal themed bedding.
Within the animal theme selections, jungle theme baby bedding is a favorite of many moms. One reason for the popularity of jungle bedding for babies is the fact that this theme can be used for a boy of girl. Babies love to look at faces and as your baby grows he or she will enjoy seeing the smiling faces of all the jungle animals in the nursery. You will find most manufacturers offer at least one bedding set based on a jungle theme and there are lots of pretty jungle themed sets available, but the following three are my favorites.
Jungle Babies by NoJo is a top seller and for good reason. There are palm tree, elephants, frogs, giraffes and of course monkeys in shades of greens, browns and tans appliqued and embroidered on this set. It comes as a six piece set that includes the basic four pieces for the bed as well as a window valance and a diaper stacker.
Jessie’s Jungle by Pem America is an all girl jungle theme with a predominate pink color. Appliqued with pink elephants and giraffes, yellow lions and pink striped zebras along with color coordinated stylized palm trees this set would make a fun jungle nursery for your little girl. It also comes as a six piece set with the same items as the set from NoJo.
Papagayo from Lambs and Ivy is another of my favorites. This theme used greens, tans and browns to depict some of the cutest jungle animals around. There are smiling monkeys, frogs, turtles and alligators along with a toucan or two. It too is available as a six piece set with lots of additional accessories available.
These three are my favorites, but there are many, many more jungle based bedding sets to choose from.

Patio Covers Make Great Outdoor Rooms
Posted on January 28th, 2010 No commentsThere is and has been for a time, a big push and trend to make outdoor living spaces more user friendly and welcoming. In fact, the whole notion of having outdoor rooms is somewhat of a more recent convention. The patio is the perfect place to convert to another usable room in or for your home. Because of the ability to find kitchen appliances made for outdoor use, many times the outdoor room that is created is a hybrid kitchen-living area. This is perfectly suited for the function of a patio cover.
If you’ve never seen or been over to someone’s home that had one of these, you’d be surprised how functional they are. You do not need to sacrifice on any of the modern conveniences simply because you are outdoors. But, just because these appliances are made to be outdoors, you could still help protect them and prolong their life by having them beneath a covered patio. In fact, patio covers have backyard appeal in their own right. Imagine the fun and flexibility you can have with an outdoor room created by a pergola with a vine covered ‘roof’. Well, you don’t only need to imagine it, because it is a reality that many are discovering.
Not only are outdoor kitchens big, but so are all of the other ‘room’ options. Basically, any room that you could find indoors could be moved out. Bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, yes, they can all be outdoor rooms as well. Let’s talk a minute about these. The bedroom is a bit more of a private space, so it will have unique characteristics indoors. However, there are certainly day beds and other lounge beds that can be set beneath a canopy or patio cover to create a nice outdoor bedroom. The same is true of a dining room. Outdoor dining furniture is very elegant now and you can find designs that are very much as attractive as any indoor set.
The outdoor bathroom, this is a whole other animal. Some people make this their little pet project. Maybe it is an expression of a little wild side or something else, but it definitely has some people raving about them. You can get a shower head fitted for an outdoor space where you can shower outdoors. Depending upon your sense of privacy or surrounding landscape and neighbors, this might be something that you are keenly interested in. Whatever type of outdoor room appeals to you, know that you can get it and enjoy it every bit as much as your indoor spaces.

Posted on January 26th, 2010 No commentsIf you are looking for something that will take care of your family during the winter times and keeping them warm in the home during the season, then you should think about owning a Payne furnace for your home. There are many benefits and features to own a Payne furnace and if you know exactly the features to look at for, then you will be on the right track to finding the proper furnace for your home.
The first most important thing that you should consider about these furnaces is the quality and efficiency. You want something that uses the gas smoothly that way you aren’t over paying for your gas bills. Also, if it doesn’t operate properly then your heating bills can dramatically increase and we don’t want that. So look at the products specs, so that you know you are getting something properly made.
Another thing that you should look at is the sound and quietness of the furnace. If you can hear your furnace from your backyard, then it is too loud for you. When these machines are on, it could create a very loud humming noise and it’s not very pleasing. So try to find one that operates smoothly and quiet at the same time. Automatic Outdoor Food Smoker
Posted on January 22nd, 2010 No commentsThere’s nothing like the sweet and savory taste of smoked meats. Instead of paying an arm and a leg at an expensive restaurant, you can make delicious food like this right in your own backyard. People will dine in awe as they discover your expert cooking prowess. Smoked goods come in a variety of forms, including poultry, red meat, pork, fish and even vegetables. The combinations of zesty seasonings, juicy meat, and down-home smoky flavor make this a cooking method of choice for many Americans. The typical way in which you would smoke food is with a charcoal smoker. The downside to this is that you have to spend a lot of money on charcoal because it takes quite a bit of it for each cooking session.
After waiting for the coals to heat up, you have a limited window to cook the foods before it passes peak temperature. Make sure you have adequate outside lights so you can see. By using an automatic outdoor food smoker, you can eliminate the cost and time inconveniences and go fully electric. You may be wondering how the food gets its namesake smoky flavor this way. Special wood flavored bisquettes are placed over the heating element. The element is powerful and hot enough to cause the wood to smolder. Smoke is released for about eight hours before needing to be refueled. You can experience the great smoky taste of your choice by inserting different flavors like apple, oak, mesquite and cherry woods. The electric heating element combined with the smoky bricks delivers a comparable taste that is so much easier than a manual cooker.
Several racks inside allow you to place in a lot of food. For example, you could have a large chicken cooking to perfection on the middle rack, and some vegetable packets on the top shelf. Most smokers are big enough to serve up enough food for several families, which makes them great for parties and events. Take pride in the fact that you’re serving up restaurant quality food for family and friends to enjoy. After you’re done eating, store your smoker in a rubbermaid shed.

Why Closets Can Be Tricky Business
Posted on January 22nd, 2010 No commentsIf there is anything that a homeowner of an older home is aware of, it is the size of their closets. Newer homes have learned from the mistakes of the past and now bedroom closet design incorporates more space and areas to hang longer items. With more space, it is even easier to find what you are looking for and stash away what you don’t need to have easy access to all of the time.
There are many ways to go about closet organization. You can get kits that makes it simple to get your storage needs set up properly, or you can hire a professional. Professional closet installation can be as intricate and designer as you want. It can also be as straightforward as adding shelves and shoe racks. With enough space, you can create the closet of your dreams.
One popular trendy thing to do is to make your closet like another room in the house. Granted, we are talking about quite a large closet here. These larger styles will incorporate long mirrors for fitting and such into the necessary shelving and hanger items. Then, you can also find seating and exotic lighting. There are some closets that have chandeliers hanging in them. How is that for designer?!
These things are all well and good, but what if you are really just looking for some simple closet organizers to help clean up the mess you’ve got in there? Well, the answer to that is simple. If you are on somewhat of a tighter budget, you can find metal wire shelving and closet organizers made of engineered wood products. These are pre-fabricated pieces that you assemble yourself on-site. If you have a larger budget or are just not handy, then you can hire a pro to design and install a custom-built real wood closet organization system. Some of these are kits as well, but are just cut to fit into your specific dimensions.

Why A Futon Mattress Is My Favorite
Posted on July 17th, 2009 No commentsYou’ll find a lot of articles written about products and services that are simply factual, straightforward or from the company’s PR people. What about the reviews and personal level of experience? Well, I know that this brief little article is not going to capture the attention of the futon mattress world, but I wanted to write it anyway. Yes, I did have a futon bed in college that was good enough at the time. You know, the ones that became flat as a pancake in no time. Then, it felt like you were just sleeping on a wood board or whatever your futon was resting on. That was years ago and I’m in my late thirties now.
Once again, I got to experience what a futon mattress had to offer when I slept over at a friend’s one night. Actually, my wife and I both slept on it. We felt great in the morning! It isn’t that our bed is uncomfortable or anything. In fact, we had a popular, brand-name mattress at the time. What this futon felt like was a combination of a firm cloud and a supportive chair, if that makes any sense. This turned me on to them again. See, this one had inner coiled springs that were then covered and wrapped in wool or something, I can’t remember what they said at the time. Anyway, it was the topic at breakfast that morning and it didn’t take us long to go out and get one for ourselves. We really can’t say enough good things about it. Now, our guests sleep on a slightly used brand-name mattress.

Patio Shade
Posted on July 16th, 2009 No commentsThere is no better feeling in the world than lounging out on my shaded patio on a warm summer day with a nice, cold beer in my hand. Of course, that feeling would not be nearly as nice if I had to deal with the hot sun beating directly down on me, heating up my beer and upping my chances at catching skin cancer!
Clearly, the key to my enjoyment in this scenario is my lovely deck awning, which provides me with much needed patio shade and protection from the sun. Without it, the hot summer days and the harmful ultra violet rays from the sun would be unbearable.
In fact, once upon a time, my patio was actually uncovered and, consequently, rarely used. Fortunately, I came to my senses, purchased and installed an aluminum awning, and covered that deck so I could actually enjoy it. Now, rather than locking myself indoors on those hot summer days, I can enjoy the outdoors while still enjoying a beverage and remaining reasonably comfortable.

Contemporary Chandelier Lighting
Posted on July 15th, 2009 No commentsChandeliers are a nice way to add spice to a room. They’ve been around for a long time, since the middle ages at least. What started out as a simple wooden cross with candles has become one of the fanciest ways to add visual impact to a room. When metal working became cheap enough for the well of merchant middle class to afford, people simply used metal armed chandeliers with candles instead of wood. With the advent of crystal chandeliers they became decorative as well as functional. Now that we don’t have to use candles, contemporary chandelier lighting can take on many forms. We can have pendant chandeliers with wood or cloth shades. They can be made of metal, glass, wood, or plastics. There are even blown glass chandeliers lit from the inside. Who would’ve thought that a simple wood and candle lighting fixture would survive to decorate and light our homes today?
