Don’t Waste Your Time And Submit Your Website to Google

Google’s great new creation: submissions!  That’s right, folks; if you’ve got a teeny new website just waiting to be discovered, you don’t have to wait any longer!  Send Google your URL, and they’ll index your site for you, match it with relevant search queries, and you’ll be all set!

Well, no.  Not really.  It’s not that you can’t get your site out there, and it’s not that Google isn’t going to keep their word; it just might take them a while.  A lot of people who’ve submitted to Google have complained that it takes an eternity to get the site posted – and when the site is posted, it’s got such a low relevance rank that it’s at the bottom of the search results.  Besides this, it’s probably just as easy to get your site “noticed” by Google than to go right up and introduce yourself.  So don’t waste  time and submit your site to Google.  Your time is better spent improving your site.

If you really want your site to be noticed, it’s not going to come through submission sites; it’s going to come from having a genuinely good website.  The more useful and informative your web page is, the more likely people are to cite you in their own page.  The more links are posted to your site, the more likely the web crawler is to find you.  Also, your site will be seen as more relevant if more people are talking about it.

So if you’re looking at making money with Google, try one of their programs designed to that end, like AdWords or AdSense.  Submitting your site may get you more traffic, but actually working on your site is going to get you traffic a lot faster.   If you’re just going for a good, well-frequented site, you really don’t need Google’s help.
