  • Baby Shower Invitation Wording – Things to Incorporate

Posted on May 2nd, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

Remembering everything for a baby shower is pretty much an impossible feat. There will inevitably be something that is forgotten, but no one will care as long as everyone is having fun and the mother to be is calm and happy. If you are hosting this type of event, one of the first things to get off your plate is the invitations. You want them out the door as soon as possible so guests can reserve that time and day. To get you ready for this, here are some things to incorporate in your baby shower invitation wording.

    1.    One of the easiest things to know to incorporate into an invitation is the time, day, date, and location. These are the most vital components.
    2.    You have got to get an idea of how many people will be showing up and the only way to get this information is to have a line with RSVP information. Put a phone number, email or even a facebook contact so people can let you know if they will be attending.
    3.    Girl or boy? Guests want to know, and so do you. This will help you do the invitations easier and help you plan the shower accordingly.
    4.    Your invitation should reflect the formality of the event. If you will be drinking tea and talking all afternoon then an elegant font on crisp vellum seems appropriate. If you will be playing games where you dress up in old cheap wedding dresses and dancing around, then you will want bright pink and black covering the invitation. You get the point.
    5.    Tell people what to buy the new mother. This again, is most easily done with a registry. Put the stores that the new mother has registered at near the bottom in a small font. Many people will be very appreciative of this small favor.

  • How Great Are Church Bulletins?

Posted on April 23rd, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

Leaders can take advantage of the benefits that church bulletins can give to their organization. The reason why they are so effective is because they hold a lot of information about God and people can just read them whenever they need to. You may be able to read about these things but it would be best if you could increase its exposure by making sure that the content is great for the people. To ensure this, below are some of the simple tips that you can use.

    1. Simple content is a hundred times better than using complicated ones
Because churches want to make people know about God’s word, they often use the deepest lines that the Bible has to offer. These lines are great but you should know that ordinary people do not really understand what they mean (some pastors even struggle with this part). Using simple bulletins is better because it encourages people to read more and it also makes them relate to what this book is saying to them.

    2. Be creative in these bulletins
Creativity can be great especially if people are constantly ignoring your bulletin posts. Using images and colours can improve all that and it can be done through church software. Many people have used this with their bulletins and they all claim that it helps them in making organized and artistic content.

    3. The font of the headings should be big and the prints should be visible as well
You should not worry about the space that these bulletins have to consume because people would most likely want to read about bigger bulletins which do not hurt their eyes. Also, it makes everything a little more interesting if the printed material is visible from a one yard distance.

Churches can mostly rely on visibility when using bulletins which is why they should convince their members to visit the boards for information and some other things that they need to know. By making them read these bulletins, they will be more knowledgeable about current events as well as some of the important things that pastors are trying to relay to people.

  • Japa Meditation for the Troubled Soul

Posted on April 15th, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

There are different techniques of meditation for beginners. Almost all the great religions s of the world have developed systems of meditations for beginners. If you want to learn and practice this ancient way of relaxation then you have to choose the right method for you. It is quite easy now to gain access to information about all these ways today, so it would not be so difficult for you o cover all of them.

What I would elaborate on here is the system of meditation called Japa meditation. Japa means touch and it is named after the fact that one uses the sense of touch primarily on practicing this type of meditation. This system was developed by the great saints and sages of India, hundreds of years ago. Japa meditation uses a set of beads that one touches while chanting sacred sounds, holy names, or what is known as mantra. This is done over and over until the person becomes wholly focused on the sounds that he is repeating. This form of meditation became popular in the West because of Hare Krishna movement, that has attracted so many followers among the youthful and discontented portions of the population.

This form of meditation does not require any previous knowledge or a deep grasp of philosophy. Anyone can practice it right away. What it aims is to develop the consciousness of a person until he becomes fully immersed in sacred thoughts and feelings. Meditation can help those who are troubled and are feeling lost. It can give them a sense of direction that other things have failed to give them. If you want to study meditation now then you have the right decision, it can open up doors for you that otherwise would have remained closed. It can change your life.

  • Best gift for your growing child

Posted on April 4th, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

A time comes in everyones life when their kids are grown enough to have tactical knowledge. But only a few of us are mostly concerned with what they are learning. We only rely upon the colleges and schools for their elementary education. But everyone should know that education is not a mere training, but it is training in right direction. If you think that your child is intellectual and has adequate strength to show his intelligence, you can promote them. If he can learn very fast, dont hesitate in asking questions and is especially smarter than other kids, then you should definitely do something to make him sharper.

The best way to motivate any child is to present him with a gift. But simply having one gift does not make sense. The gift should rightly concern your childs needs. If your child is good at sports and football is his best pastime, you can choose a football. But if your child is good at studies, then you should not simply buy a book for him. Choosing a motivational and knowledgeable gift is a wise step.

The best gift for a child is map. If a child is taught maps, he will simply get more knowledge about the places around him, and a new aspect of representing it. Reading maps also increases the sharpness of the brain. There are many types of maps available in the market, ranging from your local city to the world. Usually you can find some great locations where framed world maps for sale are available. Just get one and gift it to your intelligent child, he will definitely like to understand it. If you are an art lover, you can also get world map tapestry wall hanging available with some of the gift and craft shops.

But remember, simply gifting one is not recommended. You should take some time and teach your child about the basics of maps. This will help him to understand it and he can come with his own ideas.

  • Brainwave Entrainment: Does It Really Work? Or it is Humbug!

Posted on January 28th, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

It is human tendency to suspect. What if one tells you; all your mental disorders can be solved with one single tool? What if you can practice meditation as deep as Zen monk without years of isolation and practice? Many new brainwave entrainment programs make such exaggerated claims. It pops a question in our mind; are highly successful and reputed programs like HemiSync and Quantum Mind Power scam too?

There are definitely many bogus programs are there. But the science behind brainwave entrainment is based on fundamental feature of our brain called Frequency Following Response (FFR). Basically brainwave entrainment is brain’s electrical response to shift its frequency similar to frequency of external stimulus.

Naturally, we can experience it while listening to chirps of birds or sound of ocean waves; it soothes our minds while noise of traffic irritates us. Why? Brain follows the dominant frequency of the environment and aligns with it by entraining its own frequency. Brainwave Entrainment programs uses precisely created sounds carrying particular frequency with binaural/monaural/isochronal tones for stimulating brainwave entrainment. These sound programs can be used for many practical uses and it has proved very successful in delivering what it promises.

Lower frequencies of brain are conducive for many developmental and therapeutic purposes. Frequency is speed at which signal travels and it is measured in cycles per second or Hz. Frequencies are classified in 4 categories.
    Beta frequency 14 – 35 Hz
    Alpha frequency 7 – 14 Hz
    Theta 3.5 – 7 Hz
    Delta lower than 3.5 Hz

Here is a list of which frequency range to be targeted for a given purpose.
Reducing Stress: Any frequency below 11 Hz will be useful
Relaxation: 5 Hz to 10 Hz
Meditation: 4 Hz to 7 Hz. Choose light Theta for meditation for beginners.
Hypnosis: 8 – 10 Hz, from light alpha to deep alpha.
    Deep Sleep
: Begin with deep theta range around 4 – 6 Hz, then keep on reducing and settle at deep delta around 1.5 – 2.5 Hz
    Visualization: 6 – 10 Hz
Subliminal Programming: from 5 – 7 Hz for different purposes like gaining confidence, cultivating self discipline for implementing exercise and diet tips to lose weight successfully, overcoming smoking and gaining self confidence.
Accelerated learning: 7 – 9 Hz while studying or reading. It improves concentration, memory and retention power.
Psychic Abilities: 5 – 7 Hz is very effective for developing intuition, remote view and higher states of awareness.

  • MY DEATH WISHES

Posted on January 26th, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

Just this morning,  I woke up thinking about death.  What if I die tomorrow?  How would I want my dead body treated?  Where will I be laid to rest?   As these questions came  into my mind,  I thought of the possibilities.   Death is something that is definitely coming to me.  I just don’t know when.

It is therefore a good thing to think about what you wanted to happen when this inevitable thing happens to you…and discuss this with your family and friends, so that at least, they would know your preferences. I then looked into these things deeper and came up with these personal preferences.

Upon my death,  I would want my body embalmed good for a week’s preservation.   Unlike the usual practice of  Filipinos to hold vigils for two to three weeks,  I would prefer that my wake would last for three days only.   This will give time for my closest relatives and friends to pay their last respects to me, and take a last look on me within those days.  A longer vigil period would mean more expense for my family,  more sleepless nights,   and more stressful days as well.  Three days will definitely be long enough and more appropriate.

My casket.  I would want my casket to be as simple and economical as possible.  A wooden casket (simplest kind) may do.  But I would want it painted white,  as I want to be remembered as someone with a pure heart.  It would not be practical to use a metal casket for my body as it not only costs a lot,  but it is more practical, since, anyway, it will just be buried and put into my grave to rot.  The price difference if a metal casket will be used,  would be good enough for my family to be saved up or to be used to pay for other incidental expenses.

I go no-no for cremation,  cause I want my family, relatives and friends to remember me with the same image I projected when I was still alive.  Usually,  what comes into their minds will be how you would look inside the coffin.   I wanna look good for them then,  and I wouldn’t do if they see me as ashes.   I then would want to be buried the traditional way.

My ideal burial would be at the memorial park where I am working right now,  with interment rites as simple as possible.   I want my family to go home with a smile after I am laid to rest.   I wanted them to be assured that I am happy and at peace at my resting place and  whenever they want to spend time with me,  they could visit me there.

These are my simple preferences.  I will never know if I will be granted these requests.   It will simply depend on my family whom I will leave behind.  Wishes,  even death wishes, do come true.  Don’t they?

  • Is the Frugal Lifestyle For You?

Posted on January 24th, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

More and more people are adapting a frugal lifestyle and the others who have not are appalled by the idea. You can’t really blame them, since living frugally is the stuff of irony, and you’d do well to realize that before you even venture into the lifestyle. To give you a better picture, let’s discuss what this type of lifestyle is all about.

The frugal way to live is all about trying as hard as possible to not spend anything. That is the core principle that influences actions such as not riding a bus or not getting a car, not eating for a whole month, and the like. This would also influence decisions such as not even finding a job, or getting filthy rich through savings by just working a low paying job. Simply put, frugal is the extreme opposite of luxurious, but not going so far as to say “homeless”.

Now why is it a stuff of irony? A frugal lifestyle is one that follows no set of ideals. You can be an extreme practitioner or a casual one; either way, people will call you a cheap “something”. Controversial as this may sound, but this is the lifestyle meant for religious people – as it is what the religious figures practice.

Another irony is that people may be going through a frugal phase just so they can save a lot of money for future luxuries; which already defeats the whole purpose as compared to those who “go frugal” to get by. Think about it. If you work at a fast food branch and you get a salary but you don’t spend any of it on anything, what’s the purpose of your savings?

Ponder upon those things for a moment and determine if a frugal lifestyle is for you. It will be a hard life to live, considering the fact that most frugal people often mention the word “dumpster”. However, the fruits of your labor – or lack thereof – will be apparent in the future. Are you willing to take the risk?

  • What A Child Can Become

Posted on January 17th, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

Childhood is a stage in which a young person undergoes changes in his body be it physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Usually what a child does during his toddler until pre-school years is learning how to walk, say his first word, and eat solids foods. By two years of age he is able to identify emotions such as being happy or being sad. In this stage, a child has the tendency to do temper tantrums. It is sometimes best to ignore this type of attitude among children as they are only seeking attention. In this stage, it is hard to control a child’s wants and needs. By the age of three years, they are able to explore and enjoy the things around them. They are able to use all of their fine motor skills such as kicking a ball or going up and down the stairs without the need of assistance.

Throughout the years, a child can enjoy many things such as having a birthday celebration. This is the time where he can experience joy, laughter and recognition in which people sings him a happy birthday song, thinking of a happy birthday wish, mingle with other children, share toys and just being the playful little tikes as they are.

When a child grows, he learns many things, encounters different people around him. It is through this time the he is able to adapt in his environment. A child can become influenced with lots of stuffs depending which people he comes across to and how parents teach their children what is right from wrong.

Children are molded into what they become in the future in which it depends of what they have experience in the past. Some will become great leaders while others will just be ordinary followers. Either way, it is up to us to teach the up and coming generations the value and importance of life.

  • Ways to Improve Your Marriage

Posted on January 5th, 2011 GuestPoster No comments

Even if we love someone, we sometimes find ourselves getting into arguments with that person more often. These fights can disrupt our emotional and spiritual lives in some devastating ways. These fights and disagreements are, in the modern world, ways to the road of divorce for many couples. However, all is not lost – you can put the pieces back together if you try. Here are some ways to improve your marriage and, indeed, even how to save a marriage if it’s hit hard times as they all do at one point or another.

    (1) Take some time away from each other for a few days. Go away with friends or, at the very least, don’t spend tons of time together. Use this as a cooling off period. You may find that this enforced isolation does the trick – at the very least it will prep you for the next stages of this program.

    (2) Write down all your worries, both relating to your own life and to your relationship, and figure out what the top 3 stressors are that are damaging your relationship. For instance, for most couples money is an issue that can grind down the members of a relationship. Make sure both partners do this step.

    (3) When you meet back together, compare lists. You might be surprised at the commonalities and differences. The point of this list exercise is to get you talking about real issues. Many couples use fights about small, inconsequential things as ‘proxy wars’ for the issues that really matter. Use this technique to get to the heart of the issues and have adult conversations about them.

    (4) Get professional help if you need it. This will be the best way to repair your marriage, as having a neutral and skill intermediary can help you communicate if you have had that issue before.
