Enjoy Your Outdoor Environment With Outdoor Gas Heaters

There are various ways to keep yourself warm on camping trips. The traditional way is to start a camp fire. The problem with this though is that many camp sites have banned open fires due to the inherent dangers to the bush and wildlife. It’s still possible to provide warmth on a chilly afternoon and evening at these camp sites however if you invest in one or two outdoor gas heaters.

Gas heaters are very efficient and the costs of running them are comparable, and probably cheaper than the traditional wood fire. There is only so much wood lying around for you to pick up for free. Your other option is to buy it at the camp site or lug it with you in the car and  have it take up valuable luggage and equipment space. You only have to put up with this if the camp site allows fires in the first place.

Outdoor gas heaters on the other hand, especially the camping models, are small and very portable. You will get quite a few hours of  warmth out of a 1 gallon bottle of propane gas. It’s heaps easier to pack a gas bottle in the trailer or car than it is to take a couple of days worth of fire wood. So how do gas heaters get so efficient in the first place? It’s all about the fact that they don’t require any venting. Vented heaters lose a lot of their heat to the venting system such as a chimney but as these type of heaters are used primarily indoors you need to have some means of getting the poisonous gases out of the room.

As they are vent-less heaters portable gas heaters do have their problems with indoor use but are perfect for outdoor use. If you use them indoors you do need to make sure that there is plenty of ventilation to prevent the build up of carbon monoxide gases. Many portable gas heaters designed for indoor use come with sensors and alarms to let you know of any problems in this area. Outdoor use comes with no such problems. You still shouldn’t leave a heater running unattended though, especially if there are small children running around.

Most portable propane heaters designed for outdoor use are radiant heaters and work in much the same way as the sun does when heating up the environment. This means that all the heat they produce is radiated outward to heat up any objects that are in front of them. Popular models perfect for camping trips affix directly to the top of the gas bottle making them very easy to use and extremely portable. Others attach to the gas bottle in the usual way via a flexible hose. These heaters are good for RV campers who want to sit out on their porch and use the gas bottles attached to the back or side of their RV. Your heaters are flexible in their positioning depending on the length of hose you use.

So if you want to enjoy more of your outdoor life even when the weather is a bit cooler have a look at what’s available in outdoor heaters that run on portable gas bottles. There are many models to choose from that are designed for different styles of camping such as tent camping or RV traveling. There are also larger models designed for the back patio or deck so you can enjoy your outdoor environment at your home for longer periods of the day.
