Getting Over Your Fears

At this stage, you most probably are feeling disturbed, frightened and dejected with regards to the difficulties you are facing with your anxiety and you keep asking yourself, what to do about this driving phobia of yours.

Maybe it is because you flunked at your driving test or you are simply too scared to even try because your nervousness always gets the better of you or you are prone to experiencing panic attacks while driving. If you are thinking that you just have to learn to live with it, then you are wrong! It can be helped. It is all in the matter of knowing how.

Driving fears or phobias is what is referred to as conditioned responses. Each time you go out and drive or even by just thinking about it, the subconscious mind recollects and remembers the incidents that transpired the last time that you went out for a drive and what was your response towards it.

In most common cases, it is easy for the mind to recall a certain happening or incident because it left a great emotional imprint in your mind. The subconscious wrongly relates or associate this initial fear with driving; thereby making the assumption that it is going to be hazardous and dangerous for you to take a drive.

This particular learning happens with the formulation of certain neural pathways in your brain. You see, when you are driving and suddenly experience fear of driving, you support the brain’s wrong notion and that leads to the production of several more neural pathways that result in a quick and intense phobic reaction;thus conditioning yourself to become even more fearful.

This is the process of how you learn new things. One thing that you can do to fight this is to erase all your old and hindering neural pathways that is filled with anxiety and replace it with new pathways which consists of assurance and peace.
