A karaoke machine can be fun no matter how many people you share it with, but there really is nothing like having a big group of people in your own home for a great party.  Sometimes going to a karaoke bar can be tedious experience because you only get to sing one or two songs a night.  You also have to deal with complete strangers who might be drunk or unfriendly, and that is never fun for anyone.  If you want to simulate the bar experience in your own home all you need is a great karaoke machine that can plug into your television.  Or you can get one of the modern machines that come with its own display so that you can have a portable party anywhere in your house.  When you consider the fact that going out to the movies with your family can cost around $100 and that is about the amount you would have to spend on a decent karaoke machine, it becomes an affordable option for your entertainment dollar.

There are several key things to remember if you want your karaoke party to be as successful as possible.  The first is not to make it into a karaoke surprise party.  Make sure that your guests are well informed beforehand that they will be singing that night so that they have a chance to prepare and get over their nerves.  You might already be friends with some people who are singing fans so they can bring over a selection of their own karaoke CDs.  Remember that having a large collection of music is one of the most important things because you want to accommodate a variety of tastes.

In order to get the party started you might have to get people engaged in a few karaoke games.  Usually it takes a few minutes to get people warmed up to the point where they will be willing to sing a song on their own.  You can also get people in the mood by making the event a costume party so that people can come dressed as their favourite celebrity singers.  This way they can take on another persona for the night which will lead to some truly memorable singing performances.
