Kid Adventures

Having a kid is an adventure. When you were a kid, you took everything your parents did seriously. It was the little things they did that you remember. Now that you’re an adult, even the dumb stuff they did generally makes sense. When you’re a baby, the whole world is rather new, and not a whole lot of it is something you can rely on to be what you think it is. As you become an adult on the other hand, you end up with more information on what the world’s supposed to be and find out that now you have to turn that around and try to explain the world to your little eight month old, often in ways you never thought you would have to do in your entire life

For example, there’s that moment when your daughter just won’t eat her food. So you scoop a little bit of it into one of those rubber covered baby spoons, whirl it around in circles, make funny noises, smile, eat a bit of it yourself, swallow it, and still maintain eye contact with her, smiling the entire time, just to convince her that yes, the icky green mushed up peas really do taste good enough to eat, even when you wouldn’t eat it yourself except under such dire circumstances as this.

There’s also those fun moments when your old diaper bag that someone gave your family finally falls apart and you jump to it, buying one of those nice Kalencom diaper bags, opting for one of their nice designer baby diaper bags that looks more like you are toting a laptop instead of diapers for your daughter. About two months after the bag arrives in the mail, your daughter decides she’s ‘all done’ with diapers and wants to use the potty. Good that she’s finally on the potty, not so nice for the lovely brand new diaper bag.
