When Michael Jackson died, a huge collectibles market opened up on Ebay.  There had always been an interest in memorabilia from Michael Jackson, that now things have really exploded.  Vintage Michael Jackson dolls are being scooped up by collectors as soon as they are listed by sellers fortunate enough to have the merchandise on hand.

Certainly there are a lot of people who find profiting off of such a sad event distasteful, but, like it or not, the people who want to own this memorabilia are searching for it and it is only natural that people with less of an attachment to the items would sell it for what might be a very nice profit.  This is not something unique to the King of Pop.  Any time a celebrity passes, there will be people lined up to grab their own little piece of history.  Those offended can take some comfort in knowing that the dolls being bought are probably being kept now as a tribute and not an investment.
