Correcting the vision using laser eye surgery is probably the best and safest method. Based on statistics, surgery in the eye has a very high success rate and the results are quite outstanding too. But even with proven statistics and other positive comments regarding eye surgery using lasers, is it really safe to undergo such treatment?

Most of us have seen the benefits of eye surgery using laser as a medium. Because it doesn’t need any incision, bleeding is not experienced and there isn’t even a single wound made. This makes it very safe for correcting eye visions. But even with such benefits, there are still things that can happen especially if the procedure falls in the failure mark or something go wrong in the process.

There are still risks incorporated with laser eye surgery, the worst of which is total vision loss. But total vision loss can only be experienced in a very small percentage. The most common risk of eye surgery is dry eye. This is actually a normal problem because lasers can literally make the eye dry. Intense temperature of light passes through the cornea so the eye would basically loose some of its moisture. This can be easily treated using eye drops.

But there are also cases that laser eye surgery develops new eye problems other than the one being treated. This is often experienced in failed operations. Examples of possible new visual problems that can occur are glare, starburst, double-vision and improper eye contrast. These new problems are probably worst than blurred visions and dry eyes and needs immediate treatment to avoid further complications.
