  • Garden Decoration

Posted on November 13th, 2009 No comments

When it comes to garden decoration, there are literally hundreds or thousands of different things you can do. Some people will just want to have some nice flowers or some plants while others want something much more complicated. What you will want to do when deciding what sort of garden you want is to plan everything out first. Make a picture of what you want the final artwork to look like. Many times, because of a budget, you may not be able to get the garden you want all in one shot. You may have to add to it over months or years as you save up money. This can be a short term project or a long one. You can look online to find pictures to help you decide what look you want to create for your garden.

Some homes still use weather vanes and even if you do not need one they dress up the top of your new design. If your garden decorations are going to be fun, try the spinning pig or the golfer teeing off. These whirligigs also work as bird deterrents to help keep your fruit and veggies safe. Do you want simple and pretty; try one of the Humming bird styles with flowers.

Paradise gets dark and instead of using bright blinding lights try the energy efficient lighting, solar lights. They are maintenance free and turn on when the sun goes down. They illuminate the best when left in full sunlight all day. Spot lighting areas of the garden can add a fantastic visual effect while adding enough light to navigate your yard after dark.

I enjoy decorating my yard and garden areas with different art pieces. I am especially fond of copper because of the way it ages over time. I just love the greenish patina that form on the copper. I have a few pieces of copper yard art that are coated to preserve the shinny new appearance, but I let most of my pieces age.

The other metal that I like for yard art is wrought iron. I love the intricate shapes and patterns that can be made with such a solid piece of metal. Most of the wrought iron and copper art pieces I have work best hanging on walls or fences. I have a few that are stand alone pieces or sculptures and my absolute favorites are the pices that blend two or more different types of materials together.
