Learn About Gold Rings
Posted on August 20th, 2010 No commentsGold rings can be a pretty addition to any jewelry collection and are something you probably shouldn’t be without. It is a soft metal which makes it malleable enough to form beautiful jewelry without too much effort, as long as you happen to be a skilled jeweller. It is also conductive which makes it ideal for electronics but this is a precious and rare metal which is why it is best known for is ability to enhance the look of those that wear it on their person. Gold rings are traditionally used as wedding rings. However, even to this numerous benefits and usage gold has downsides.
One thing to keep in mind is that not all people reacts well on gold when worn. There are cases on some people stating that gold can leave colored marks on their skin after removing the ring. Another point is that for rare reason, there are people who have allergic reactions to gold and thus it forms blisters and rashes on the area where gold has contact with. It is usually due to the nickel for alloy in some gold products. And so to avoid this, a higher carat of gold is preferable to buy because it contains lesser nickel. But this won’t be ideal for many especially those who want the elevated cost for a new piece of jewelry.
Another downside of a gold ring is the durability of the metal it is made from. For we all know that gold is a soft metal, which means that it’s more prone to damage than other metal rings like platinum and titanium. One very popular evident is how you determine if a charm is pure gold, once you bite on a gold surface it will leave a small tooth mark on it. This could only mean one thing that gold rings can easily warp on the surface once it is accidentally bumped on a hard object and it will lessen the shiny appearance of your ring. Exposure to heat can deform its shape too, even on mild heat around the finger of your hand.
Gold rings, indeed, need proper care and enough knowledge to its downside factors. These would give you an idea of the do’s and don’ts on handling this jewelry piece. Even to the cited disadvantages it is still an adorable and favorite charm for most people.

Selling Used Gold Jewelry
Posted on October 18th, 2009 No commentsJewelry is something that everyone enjoys, although historically women seem to own more jewelry than men do. From the time they’re little girls, they begin wanting and collecting gold jewelry. Their class ring is probably their most expensive ring up throughout their childhood and as they head towards adulthood. However, once they become engaged and married, things change and they get new jewelry. Sometimes, engagement and wedding rings can be very expensive. These rings are the start of an entirely new life for the happy couple.
Unfortunately, many marriages end in divorce today. Possessions are split up during divorce, but the woman usually maintains her jewelry, specifically the wedding ring set. Some women keep it out of sentimental value, while others keep it for the monetary value. Used jewelry can be sold to gold buyers that offer cash for gold, usually called gold smelters. Gold smelters melt down the gold so it can be used again, often like recycling. They are usually the best bet to sell your gold to. All you have to do is contact one and request a mailing pack with which to send your gold in.

Gold Lockets vs. Gold Pendants
Posted on June 7th, 2009 No commentsWith all the choices in gold jewelry out there, its sometimes hard to decide exactly what you want. Even in the more refined category of gold necklaces, there are many decisions to be made. Many people finally settle on gold pendants, but they tend to make the mistake of ignoring a more minor section of pendants – gold lockets. Lockets have all the advantages of pendants with extras that make them far superior. Like a pendant, they can be shaped in many different ways. It’s typical to see gold lockets with extra flair and adornments, just like pendants. But lockets have extra space inside to hold photographs and small keepsakes. Why miss out on the added utility? If you’re considering a pendant as a gift for someone close to you, think about a gold locket instead. You won’t regret it.
