Posted on August 20th, 2010 No commentsGold rings can be a pretty addition to any jewelry collection and are something you probably shouldn’t be without. It is a soft metal which makes it malleable enough to form beautiful jewelry without too much effort, as long as you happen to be a skilled jeweller. It is also conductive which makes it ideal for electronics but this is a precious and rare metal which is why it is best known for is ability to enhance the look of those that wear it on their person. Gold rings are traditionally used as wedding rings. However, even to this numerous benefits and usage gold has downsides.
One thing to keep in mind is that not all people reacts well on gold when worn. There are cases on some people stating that gold can leave colored marks on their skin after removing the ring. Another point is that for rare reason, there are people who have allergic reactions to gold and thus it forms blisters and rashes on the area where gold has contact with. It is usually due to the nickel for alloy in some gold products. And so to avoid this, a higher carat of gold is preferable to buy because it contains lesser nickel. But this won’t be ideal for many especially those who want the elevated cost for a new piece of jewelry.
Another downside of a gold ring is the durability of the metal it is made from. For we all know that gold is a soft metal, which means that it’s more prone to damage than other metal rings like platinum and titanium. One very popular evident is how you determine if a charm is pure gold, once you bite on a gold surface it will leave a small tooth mark on it. This could only mean one thing that gold rings can easily warp on the surface once it is accidentally bumped on a hard object and it will lessen the shiny appearance of your ring. Exposure to heat can deform its shape too, even on mild heat around the finger of your hand.
Gold rings, indeed, need proper care and enough knowledge to its downside factors. These would give you an idea of the do’s and don’ts on handling this jewelry piece. Even to the cited disadvantages it is still an adorable and favorite charm for most people.

Silver, Titanium And Gold Rings For Men
Posted on September 23rd, 2009 No commentsIf you are looking for a mens ring then you don’t have much in the way of choice when it comes to the material it will be made of. What’s available really boils down to gold, silver or titanium. If you don’t like any of them then you are better off giving up and choosing some other sort of jewelry.
Silver rings are the cheapest choice and not any the worse off for the fact. Many people actually prefer silver because its less ostentatious and attracts less attention. For a manly ring you might want to go for titanium which is strong, durable and reasonably priced. For the classic look go for a mens gold ring which will cost you more but will look great no matter who long want to wear it.
