It seems like such a good idea. Instead of spending money on professional waxing treatment and having all the inconvenience of having to get to the salon for appointments, you decide to wax yourself at home. You buy one of the hot waxing kits that are widely available these days. It has all of the supplies that your beautician uses on you, so that you have everything you need. So far so good, but don’t go any further without reading these guidelines about what not to do with your kit.
1. Don’t Go Too Fast
Although you think you know what your beautician does when she is waxing you, she is a professional who has probably spent a few years getting waxing down to a fine art. Read and follow the instructions which come with your kit.
2. Don’t Start There
You may have had bikini line waxing at the salon for years, but it it still not a good idea to do this at home if you are talking about any drastic reduction in hair. For one thing, it is awkward to see what you are doing and for another, it is one of the most sensitive areas and you may be surprised at how much courage you lack when it comes to removing the wax you have applied. It is one thing having the beauty therapist pull off those strips of wax and quite another doing it yourself. It is not that you cannot wax your own bikini line, but at least get some experience of home waxing first so that you are confident you can pull it off (literally!). Start with your legs or some easy area like that and work up to the more difficult tasks.
3. Don’t Get in a Mess
Make sure you protect the area where you are waxing yourself with a lot of old towels or sheets. As the therapist is quite skilled, she probably does not spill a lot of wax. As a result, you probably don’t realize what a mess you could make by getting wax everywhere, but this is sticky stuff to remove from floors and chairs, so don’t leave yourself a nasty job of clearing up after your waxing session.
