Menopause is when a woman’s body stops producing eggs, estrogen and progesterone production slows down and periods stop. This usually happens naturally between the ages 45-55 but can happen earlier or latter and still be perfectly natural. There are some hormone level tests that your doctor can perform to definitively gauge whether you are in menopause or not. Typically, menopause isn’t something that happens suddenly, but rather it’s a slow subtle change that occurs over a period of several years. Some typical signs of menopause are period bleeding stops or becomes erratic, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, mood swings, anxiety, night sweats, and loss of sex drive. Not all women experience menopause symptom but most menopausal women will experience at least a few symptoms with hot flashes being one of the most common symptoms.
