  • The Value Of A Shiatsu Massage

Posted on August 14th, 2010 GuestPoster No comments

Stress is part of everyone’s life, now granted the level of stress and how we handle that stress will vary from person to person. The fact remains that there is stress in this world and it is not going to stop just because we cannot handle it properly. In order to effectively manage stress we need to find outlets that can allow us to refresh ourselves. Some people play golf while others listen to soothing music and then there are those that like to get a massage.

Massage therapies have been around for centuries and where primarily developed because people needed an outlet to become re-energize. The Shiatsu massage was one such technique in the family of massage therapy. As with most massage techniques this one was founded in Japan and then spread throughout the world as travel made it possible. The word Shi means “finger” and the word atsu means “pressure”, roughly translated Shiatsu means “pressure applied by the fingers.”

A typical Shiatsu session will be anywhere from 40 minutes up to 1 hour. The price is based on how much time you need to get those kinks worked out. The cost can start around $50 per session and go up from there based on the time and the rates the masseuse has set. This is a service similar to getting your hair cut so expect to tip your technician at some point. A client will typically lie on a mat on the floor, unclothed with just a towel to cover their private areas for the duration of the session.

Learning to manage stress properly or finding that special outlet that works for you can go a long way in helping you live a longer healthier life. Stress affects our bodies as well as our minds and as we know it isn’t going away anytime soon. By treating yourself to a Shiatsu massage every now and again is a great way to nip stress in the bud so to speak because it is very relaxing, therapeutic and re-invigorating.

  • Are Back Massagers Any Good?

Posted on September 20th, 2009 admin No comments

If you get lots of back pain then it is no secret that a good massage can really help. You can get back massagers but are they anywhere near as good as a real massager?

The short answer is no – a good massage from a  professional will nearly always be better, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a use. If you don’t really have the money to get a good massage every week tghen you can use a back massager to keep youself “topped up” with a massage. You can also use them wherever you want and when you want so if you have a busy schedule they can really help.

Of course there is also a lot of choice amongst back massagers. Take your time when choosing to make sure you get the right one.

  • In Home Massage Service

If you have the resources, in home massage service can be wonderful. A licensed massage therapist can come to your home with all the proper equipment so that you can enjoy a relaxing massage in the privacy of your own home. These sessions are quite expensive because a in home massage therapist can only see a few clients a day because it takes time to travel to different locations and set up and tear down in each one. Since they only see a few clients a day versus the eight or ten they could see in a salon or parlor, then they have to charge more for each encounter. If you do not want to pay lots of money but still want to experience massage therapy in your home, then you and your partner could enroll in a massage class and buy your own massage table. Then, once you each have teh basics you could give each other massages.
