Choosing Nursery Lamp Shades - as easy as ABC?

Babies or young children and electricity don’t mix yet they are often attracted to the bright light coming from a light bulb.

Bulbs get very hot yet it is only once your child reaches out and touches the bulb that they know this. This means that they can get a nasty fright or even a burn if you are not careful.  It’s important not to leave any easily accessible light bulbs in the nursery. You need to shield every bare bulb with a lamp shade.

You will find some beautiful specialist lamp shades for the nursery and sometimes you will find pendant lamp shades and table lamp shades to match your baby’s or toddler’s bedding. Look out for these.

When placing your lamp take care that your crawling baby or toddler can’t pull over the lamp by grasping the cord. Sometimes you need eyes in the back of your head with a young child!
