  • Ultralight Fly Fishing

Ultralight fly fishing is a great way to completely unload a pond of every fish that it holds. For good reason too. Fish located in these ponds rarely get good meals, so they have to sit and pick bugs and other small animals off as they come by. Rats, mice, frogs, and lizards are a great food source for fish in these ponds, as well as small bugs, flies, and dragonflies that are in the air. When they land on top of the water, they are fair game. This is where having an ultralight fly fishing rod to throw small bug type lures to them will help you pull out every fish in the pond. Using a 1wt or 2wt rod with some lighter line and super small bugs is a great way to catch more fish!
