The Alkaline Diet And Weight Loss

When you take a look at the alkaline diet, you will see that it is not focused on losing weight. The aim is simple even though it can sound quite complicated. Advocates of the alkaline diet suggest that modern diets contain too high a percentage of acid foods. Therefore what we should do is to increase the ratio of alkaline to acid foods. The aim of this is to align the pH of our bodies into a more natural state.

This will help us in a number of ways. Better pH balance will make us feel healthier, act more positively, look better and simply feel better. Of course, it is not the case that the alkaline diet cannot be used as part of a weight loss program. Indeed, I feel that this is a really good diet for weight loss over the long term.

The reason for this opinion is that instead of dieting for weight loss, dieting for health is a much better idea for sustained progress. Since there is no aspect of denial on the alkaline diet, it so not a test of will power.

Alkaline foods are ones that leave an alkaline residue once they have been metabolized by our bodies. These foods are for the most part, fruits and vegetables. The simple aim is to eat more fruits and vegetables than we do at present and this will give our bodies a better pH balance.

There are other things that are worth consuming, for example green tea. This has been drunk in Japan for centuries and it actually has a slightly alkalizing effect. Many people follow a green tea weight loss program but again, this is not the specific aim of the alkaline diet.

Simply by consuming more alkaline foods, we are able to improve the condition of our bodies. As we begin to look and feel better on both the inside and outside we may find it easier to start losing weight through an improved lifestyle.
