Even a new gardener knows that summer is the best time to grow plants. The climate is perfectly suited to growing nearly anything, because the days are long, the weather is warm, and the sun is usually out for most of the day. You can imagine that plants thrive in these conditions, and not only are they well to do in summer, but so are you. Summertime seems to give people more energy than in the other seasons, and perhaps it is for similar reasons as to why plants grow so well. But even though things are easier, there are clearly still tasks for your vegetable garden design that you need to take care of in order to be successful.
A very important task is to give your plants the proper amount of fertilizer. Despite all the energy they get from the sun, they still need basic elements in order to comprise their physical structure. You can make your own organic fertilizer by creating a compost pile, or you can just buy some from the store. Either way, as long as your garden is getting the nutrients that it needs to grow, you will be fine. Make sure to not give your plants too much fertilizer though, as doing this can result in them not being able to absorb water properly, which would lead to their untimely demise.
There are certain plants that need to be supported during their growth, because the plants themselves are not strong enough to hold all the fruit by their stems. One such well known plant is the tomato. By utilizing supports, you can get them to grow quite tall and get larger outputs than if you used smaller supports or no supports at all. Some other plants exist where it is good to use supports, but the one that is most associated with this gardening technique is definitely the tomato.
